JRB Brewmaster Dustin Caster has an initial four beer core product line, 2 small beers and several season and reserve offerings in the works:
CORE PRODUCTS (offered year round):
“Hatton Ale”, Kölsch - A standard light drinking ale in many parts of Germany. This beer provides many of the characteristics that a lager does, smoothness, with an all over subtleness than blends flavors together, instead of separating them out. Highly refreshing and easy drinking, this brew received a Best in Show award in competition in 2010.
“Rock Island Red”, Irish Wheat Ale - A balanced beer, brewed in the classic Irish style, with the exception of the addition of white wheat. Smooth and easy to drink, with a mild hop nose, this beer has proven to be a favorite of multiple test groups.
“River Runner”, English Southern Bitter - An English bitter with a slightly higher APV, than the standard. Good, rich malty tones characterize this beer; while New Zealand's Green Bullet hops give it the appropriate kick without too much bite.
“Class One Rapids ”, British IPA - A true British India Pale ale based off of recipes from the time that ships hauled the precious brew from England all the way to India. A rich, malty body supports the Fuggle and Kent Golding hops that originally preserved the beer on its long passage. Rising River, is just the first in James River Brewing's line of IPA's, and proves to be a unique ale in today's market.
NOTE: Class One Rapids is in the brewing process now and should be available on tap soon.
SMALL BEERS:
"River Walker " , Parti-gyle style from the River Runner recipe. This light body brew with smooth flavor offers a softer, slower pace that all can enjoy. 3.7% ABV (River Jogger, half River Walker, half River Runner, is also an option)
"Sandbar " , Parti-gyle style from the Rock Island Red recipe. Classic American Wheat with a mild hop finish. Sessionable and refreshing! 3.8% ABV
SEASONAL OFFERINGS:
Dunkelweisen- This is a highly traditional style to the southern regions of Germany. Bavarian in style, the yeast gives esters of clove and banana. Rich malty notes round out the body, while German noble hops give the perfect amount of bitterness. This beer separates itself from other dunkelweisens with the addition of extra pale malt, which increases the alcohol just slightly.
NOTE: Look for Dunkelweisen to be ready by mid-October!
RESERVE OFFERINGS:
“Green Eyed Lady" Deliberately hazy, with a touch of residual sugar, Green Eyed Lady as a bold mouth-feel, and a pleasant pistachio finish. Combined witha generous helping of Mt. Hood hops and standing at 9.2% ABV, Green Eyed Lady is mysterious indeed!
“Kind Woman”, Chocolate Raspberry Stout - At 10% APV (Alcohol Per Volume), this beer warms on multiple levels. This beer has been infused with raspberries all through-out the brewing process. This includes being bottle conditioned using raspberry juice as the priming sugar. Multiple types of chocolate malt radiate from the beer giving a beer fit for dessert, or even over ice-cream.
NOTE: Kind Woman is in the brewing process now and should be ready sometime before December - this reserve will only be available for purchase in bottles.
